CW29
I knew when I was writing CW23, the post about how you have to write the lyrics first if you want to write great songs, that I’d probably be punished for it. I haven’t been able to write any songs with lyrics, with that or any other technique, since. Or maybe it’s not the “Good People” punishing me (for having the arrogance to think I knew where their gold was (and telling people how to get it!)). Maybe it was the impulse to write the post, itself, that made the songs fly away (again) as suddenly as they’d returned (again). “Dialing in”: bad idea. Trying to lock down a system is exactly what makes the magic flee. I knew that, of course. Was what I was saying true? Yes and no, I’m sure. I.e., I’m sure I don’t know.
In any case, every song I’ve posted the lyrics to so far, including today’s, was not written lyrics-first, if that tells you anything. Tomorrow I’m rereleasing Bentonia, from 2011, on my Bandcamp. “Os Tonokos Token” is the first song on there.
